Pittsburgh
Panthers All-America center DeJuan Blair will reportedly declare for the NBA
Draft but he has avoided hiring an agent which leaves him with the opportunity
to return to school for his junior year if he is not happy with where he is
projected to go in the draft.
Blair
was a major component of the Panthers run in 2008-09 as he averaged 15.7 points
and 12.3 rebounds a game to earn co-player of the year honors in the Big East,
an award he shared with UConn’s Hasheem Thabeet. Blair’s play helped Pittsburgh
earn its first ever number one ranking as well as its first ever number
one-seed in the NCAA tournament.
At
6-foot-7, 260 pounds, Blair would be a mid-sized inside player in the NBA. He
is currently projected to be a mid to late first round selection. Without an
agent Blair would have until June 15 to withdraw his name from the June 25 NBA
Draft.
