LifeWay signs with Daywind to publish gospel anthems
LifeWay Worship received a boost from the signing of a publishing agreement with Daywind Music Group, the premier source of new songs for the Southern gospel and church print/choral markets.
"God’s timing for this agreement is perfect," said Daywind President Ed Leonard. "LifeWay is the best at getting the songs out to the churches."
LifeWay Worship, the music publishing division of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention, entered into the agreement with Daywind in answer to requests from ministers of music who want to use the spirited, harmonious style of music in their worship.
"We have a strong core of ministers of music who have asked us for Southern gospel music," LifeWay Worship Director Mike Harland said at the March 23 signing. "This is a real opportunity for us to meet the needs of those churches."
The agreement calls for Daywind to contribute six anthems to LifeWay Worship. The first two of these, Life Goes On and We Sing Jesus Christ, both written by Marty Funderburk and Gina Boe, will be released in May.
"The real beneficiary of this agreement will be the churches," Harland said. "We will be able to offer them the music they have been asking for. It all starts with the song, and Daywind is a source of tremendous songs."
