Just
hours after pitching six innings of scoreless ball against the Oakland
Athletics on Wednesday night Los Angeles Angels rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart
was killed in a hit-and-run accident.
Adenhart,
22, was believed to be a passenger in a Mitsubishi carrying two other people
when a minivan ran a red light at a Fullerton intersection and slammed into the
vehicle before fleeing. Two other people in the Mitsubishi, a man and a woman,
were killed in the accident.
Police
were able to catch the driver of the minivan who is now being treated at a
local hospital. The driver will likely felony hit-and-run charges in addition
to three counts of vehicular homicide.
Adenhart
was from Silver Springs, Maryland.
