Iran Opens Country’s First Nuclear Fuel Production Plant

Iran has opened its first nuclear fuel production plant and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad marked the day as a step towards achieving the respect the country deserved.

Ahmadinejad has dismissed claims that Iran was working towards building a nuclear bomb, insisting that the project was designed for peaceful purposes. In a speech marking the plant opening Ahmadinejad showed no concern over how the international community would react nor did he appear too worried about how the news would affect talks with several countries.

The Iranian president was quoted as saying, “The Iranian nation has from the beginning been after logic and negotiations, but negotiations based on justice and complete respect for rights and regulations.” Ahmadinejad continued, “One-sided negotiations, conditional negotiations, negotiations in an atmosphere of threat are not something that any free person would accept.”

It is believed that once the plant in Isfahan is fully operational Iran would be able to produce enough plutonium to manufacturer two nuclear weapons a year.
