Dawna Lee Heising of “Eye on Entertainment” interviewed the President and CEO of Empire Films Domiziano Arcangeli. With over 100 film and television credits to his name, Arcangeli is a well-recognized, internationally known star. Arcangeli began his acting career at a tender age, and he has never stopped. Born and raised in Italy, but with an American mother, Arcangeli began his career as a child actor and gradually transitioned into teen and then leading roles. He had the good fortune to work with many of the leading Italian directors of the day, including the legendary Federico Fellini. Since his return to America, Arcangeli has shared the silver screen with many film legends, including Samuel L Jackson, Dennis Hopper, Sean Connery, Brett Halsey, Anita Ekberg, Mickey Rourke and Sir Laurence Olivier.
Arcangeli has appeared in more than one hundred films, ten television series and numerous theatrical productions, both in Italy and the United States. He began his acting career at the age of thirteen in Italy performing in “The Good Soldier” for Academy Award winning director Franco Brusati, which led to work with such masters of European cinema as Federico Fellini and Liliana Cavani. Fluent in English, French and Italian, he has dubbed Jude Law and Mark Wahlberg, and holds dual United States and Italian citizenship.
Arcangeli has proven his versatility by working in a wide-ranging variety of roles. He has played in art house films, horror films, thrillers, dramas, comedies, martial arts films and westerns, including: “The Name of the Rose,” “Fellini’s Intervista,” “Tint of Brass,” “Paprika,” “The Good Soldier,” “Liliana Cavagini’s St. Francis of Assisi,” “Sin’s Kitchen “ House of Flesh Mannequins,” “Bruno,” “They work for Tips,” “H1N1: Virus X,” “Werewolf in a Woman’s Prison,” “The Scarlet Worm,” “Samurai Avenger: The Blind Wolf,” and “Box of Shadows.” Arcangeli was also a regular on the hit Showtime series, “Zalman King’s, “Chromium Blue, “ and appeared on NBCTV’s “The Restaurant.”
Arcangeli launched his own production company, Empire Films, in 2009, which has given him the opportunity to branch out and create films that are not only interesting to watch, but are beautiful works of art. So far the films have all been made for relatively low budget, but Arcangeli has been able to realize his visions by creating films that have been recognized all over the world. The company’s films have been released both domestically and internationally theatrically, on DVD and on video on demand (VOD). These films have been well received by critics, and have won major awards. “House of Flesh Mannequins”, “Orgy of Blood”, “H1N1: Virus X” and “Brides of Sodom” have been released by Empire Films. “Lizzie” and “Box of Shadows” are slated for release and “Twilight of the Gods” is in pre-production. An actor in great demand, Arcangeli is currently starring in Steve Oakley’s “Addicted to Blood” and will appear in Matt Riddlehoover’s upcoming “Scenes from a Gay Marriage”.
The mission of Empire Films is to produce aesthetically beautiful motion pictures that are commercially viable, without compromising the company’s sense of artistic integrity. “I believe in living life fully and with intensity,” says Arcangeli. “I’d like to be always able to express myself as an artist and, through art, leave an impression of integrity and humanity in the public imagination.” Matt Chassin is the CEO of Matt’s Marketing and Vice President and COO of Empire Films, and is Arcangeli’s manager and publicist.
