Former
Kentucky Wildcats basketball stand-out Mike Casey has passed away at the
Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN after suffering heart complications.
Casey was 60.
As
a sophomore under legendary head coach Adolph Rupp in 1967-68 Casey led the Wildcats
in scoring, averaging 20.1 points per game, as Kentucky won the SEC and reached
the Elite Eight in the NCAA tournament. Casey closed his career as the Wildcats
13th all-time scorer.
Prior
to arriving at the University of Kentucky Casey was named Mr. Basketball in
1966, the year he led his Shelby County High School squad to the state
championship.
