Academic Summer Camp Holds Spanish-Speaking Camp in San Diego This Summer
SuperCamp announces it first-ever Spanish immersion summer camp in 2009
In a world becoming increasingly cross-cultural and multilingual, students today are learning that the best way to get ahead is to immerse themselves in other cultures.
Beginning in the summer of 2009, SuperCamp will launch its first ever Spanish immersion summer program for high school students in the United States. This 10-day program will take place at Cal State San Marcos in North San Diego County, California from July 8 - 17. While at camp, students will experience life on a college campus by learning in and around academic buildings, living and sleeping in dorms, and eating in the school’s cafeteria, all while thriving in an exclusively Spanish-speaking environment. Students who speak Spanish as a first language as well as students who would like Spanish immersion to improve their communication skills are both encouraged to attend.
“The Mandarin and Spanish teen summer camps are great 10-day immersion opportunities for high school students who are taking one of these languages at a high level in school," said SuperCamp President, Bobbi DePorter. "At the same time, they will receive all of SuperCamp’s regular learning and life skills training, which will help them in all subject areas and in their day-to-day lives."
SuperCamp, an Oceanside, California-based academic summer camp, is a leader in learning and life skills achievement that helps to develop teens’ character, values, motivation, confidence, self-esteem, and other personal traits through accelerated life-skills training. Teens also gain practical learning skills that help them in every school subject and also help prepare them for college. This will be the first time that SuperCamp has gone trilingual by adding the Spanish program to their summer line up along with an identical program offered in Mandarin.
Since 1982, SuperCamp has graduated over 50,000 students from all 50 states and from over 30 countries worldwide. Independent studies with over 6,000 graduates report that the majority of students raise their grades, confidence and motivation following SuperCamp. SuperCamp is held on seven college campuses nationwide, including Stanford, Wake Forest and Cornell Universities.
