Teen Summer Camp to Speak Mandarin This Summer

SuperCamp will hold its first ever Mandarin-immersion summer camp for high school students in the U.S. in July

SuperCamp, the academic summer program based out of Oceanside, California, has announced that for the first time it will conduct a 10-day high school summer camp entirely in the Mandarin language in addition to its established English counterpart this summer.

The
Mandarin-immersion summer program will join the Spanish language program at Cal State San Marcos in North San Diego County, California from June 26 - July 5, and will mark the first time that SuperCamp has hosted a foreign language program within the United States. Cal State San Marcos will also play host to SuperCamp’s traditional English language program, which has been in existence since 1982.

Both the Mandarin and Spanish-speaking programs will take place during SuperCamp’s Senior Forum residential summer camp, designed for incoming 9th-12th grade students. The English-speaking Senior Forum will also take place at Cal State San Marcos from July 22-31. In addition, SuperCamp will conduct their Junior Forum program at Cal State San Marcos from July 10-19th. The Junior Forum learning and life skills residential summer camp is intended for students entering grades 6-8 in the fall.

“The Mandarin teen summer camp is a great 10-day immersion opportunity for high school students who are taking the language at a high level in school," said SuperCamp president Bobbi DePorter. "At the same time, they will receive all of SuperCamp’s regular learning and life skills training, which will help them in all subject areas and in their day-to-day lives."

For the past 27 years, SuperCamp has been a leader in learning and life skills achievement for students of all ages and has since graduated over 50,000 students. SuperCamp helps to develop teens’ character, values, motivation, confidence, self-esteem, and other personal traits through accelerated learning and
life skills training. Teens also learn practical and applicable skills that help them in every school subject to help prepare them for college.

Along with Cal State San Marcos, SuperCamp conducts their English program at the middle school, high school, and college levels at seven other colleges across the country including Stanford University, Cornell University, and Wake Forest University.
