A campaign promise made by President Barack Obama to his two daughters, Malia and Sasha, is said to be near completion as the first family has opted to add a Portuguese water dog to their White House experience.
The Portuguese water dog, said to be a six-month-old puppy, has already been given the name “Bo” by Malia and Sasha. Obama had pledge to get his girls a puppy as a reward for their patience during the presidential campaign.
It is believed the water dog was a gift from Sen. Ted Kennedy who owns three of the breed himself. The Portuguese water dog fits in well with the Obama family as the breed does not shed hair and will be less likely to cause problems for Malia who suffers from allergies.
While the dog has not yet made its home in the White House an announcement concerning his arrival is expected on Tuesday.
