General Motors has issued a recall of nearly 1.5 million
vehicles due to an engine fire hazard. GM says vehicles with the model years
1997 through 2003 that have a 3.8 liter, V-6 engine have a potential fire hazard
as drops of oil could fall on the exhaust manifold and start a fire.
The recall includes the 1997-2003 Buick Regal and Pontiac
Grand Prix, the 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and Oldsmobile Intrigue, the
1998-2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and the 2000-2003 Chevrolet Impala.
Dealers will perform repairs on the recalled vehicles
free of charge. No fires or injuries have been reported. The recall
is only precautionary.
