Toronto, Canada - GAO RFID Asset Tracking (www.GAORFIDAssetTracking.com) has launched this 902 MHz Gen 2 portable handheld RFID reader/writer for field service as well as in warehousing, distribution, on shop floors and in retail POS inventory control.

This portable handheld RFID reader/writer, model 246001, operates over a frequency range from 902 to 928 MHz with spread spectrum frequency hopping. It is light in weight and compact in size, and offers a baud rate of 19,200 bps.

It reads and writes RFID transponders compliant with ISO18000-6B, EPC Class 1 Gen 1, EPC UHF Gen 2 and ISO18000-6C standards. Also, it allows for multi-detection and offers a maximum read distance of 3 m and a writing distance of up to 1.5 m.

With an IP55 protection rating and packaged within high impact plastic housing, this compact RFID reader provides protection against water and dust and allows robust operation even in severe environments. It has passed RoHS, CE and FCC certifications. Additionally, it communicates with a computer via USB, IrDA1.1, RS232 and TTL interfaces for data exchange.

This portable handheld RFID reader/writer belongs to GAO's family of Fleet Maintenance RFID Readers.
