Vatican Rejects Barack Obama’s Proposed Candidates for Position of Ambassador to Holy See

U.S. President Barack Obama has run into a bit of a problem with the Vatican after at least three of his nominated candidates for the position of ambassador to the Holy See have been rejected.

Caroline Kennedy, daughter of former U.S. President John Kennedy, is said to be among the three declared unacceptable for the position. It is believed that Kennedy’s pro-choice stance was enough for Pope Benedict XVI to dismiss her candidacy.

The other two candidates suggested by Obama also carry pro-choice sentiments, a position that has never been carried by past ambassadors to the Pope.

In July Obama is scheduled to meet with Pope Benedict XVI for the first time and it is believed he is running out of time to fill the post currently held by Mary Ann Glendon.
