In its latest effort to be active in the community, Viverae, a national leader in employer health management and services, participated in the 2nd Annual Carrier Olympics presented by Higginbotham and Associates. The event was held at Texas Christian University’s Lowdon Track Complex on April 3, 2009.
“The event brings the insurance community together to promote health awareness initiatives in the workplace,” said Higginbotham’s Director of Health Risk Management Leah Tiller. “Insurance carriers and brokers can do a lot to help employers contain their health care costs by working together to develop health improvement programs.”
Participants represented a cross section of the insurance community, which included carriers, vendors and health management providers. Teams, who were each made up of four persons, competed against each other in various challenges ranging from a wall climb to a bean bag toss with a race to the finish line as the last event.
Team “Viverae Best” comprised of Business Development Managers Ashley Beverly and RoxAnne Low as well as National Account Managers Donna Rodriguez and Carrie Camin. “It was great fun competing against our peers while at the same time promoting health and wellness. Higginbotham did an outstanding job organizing this event. Best of all, the money that was raised went to a very worthy cause,” said Ashley Beverly after the Carrier Olympics came to a close.
Heroes for Children, a nonprofit based in Richardson, was the recipient of the $4,800 that was raised by the event. This organization provides financial and social assistance to Texas families with children up to 22 years old who are fighting cancer.
