Downtown Clearwater’s Cleveland Street District Rocks the House with the Kenny McGee band on Friday, April 24th

The 4th Friday “Party on Cleveland Street” Events are gaining more recognition as their 2nd month unfolds another great artist to rock downtown with some classic southern rock!

The Clearwater Downtown Partnership (known as the CDP) has been spearheading a successful line of events in their downtown Cleveland Street District called 4th Friday.  After 2 successful events with over 2000 people in attendance at each one, the group is planning their next one for Friday, April 24th.  The purpose is simple:  “Feet on the Street.”  And they deliver by providing the recipe for what people love the most – live music, fun, adult and non-alcoholic beverages, a lively crowd (your friends), all kinds of food and local goods.  The party is free and will go from 5:30-9:00pm at the 500 - 600 blocks of Cleveland Street.

The name of the band/artist this month is the Kenny McGee band.  Kenny has a very successful track record with the Tampa area and nationally as well.  To highlight some of it, Kenny is the lead vocalist from Julliet, a national rock act.  Julliet went on to get signed to Capitol Records and toured in the 80s and early 90s.  They worked with such producers as Frankie Sullivan (Survivor) and Kevin Dubrow (Quiet Riot).  Kenny eventually branched off and formed a solo band.  It has gotten Kenny back to his southern rock roots.  In the early 90s, he had the number 1 most requested song on 98 Rock for 6 months, titled “Baby Jane.”  At the same time, Julliet’s “Revvin Me Up” was being played on rock stations nationwide.  Kenny McGee remains one of the most sought out singer/songwriters to work with to this day.

The CDP has a host of partners and sponsors that have come together in support of Downtown Clearwater’s economic revival – sponsors that the CDP says they cannot do without: the City of Clearwater, the Threshers, Ruth Eckerd Hall, Tampa Bay Newspapers, the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Development Board, the Tampa Bay Informer, Jazz Holiday and Clear Channel.  The 4th Friday events will be supporting multiple not-for-profits throughout the year from the beer and wine proceeds.

So far, 4000-plus footprints have been a healthy start for the 4th Friday events.
