Colombian Authorities Arrest Country’s Most Wanted Drug Lord, Daniel Rendon Herrera

Colombian authorities have arrested Daniel Rendon Herrera, widely considered the country’s most wanted drug lord.

The arrest of “Don Mario” took place Wednesday morning in the municipality of Apartado, Antioquia, in northwest Colombia. Widely considered the main drug lord of west Colombia Herrera, 43, is alleged to have close ties with Mexican drug gangs and is believed to have assembled his own private army with more than one thousand soldiers.

News of Hererra’s arrest was confirmed by Colombia’s President Alvaro Uribe and comes after the government offered a $1.3 million bounty for him.
