NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Schedule: Boston Celtics Host Chicago Bulls in Game One on Saturday

The NBA playoffs get underway on Saturday with an Eastern Conference match-up between the #2-seed Boston Celtics (62-20) and the #7-seed Chicago Bulls (41-41) in game one of their best-of-seven series.

For the Celtics the road to a second straight NBA championship has been filled with detours, none bigger than the one they now currently face with the absence of Kevin Garnett who remains questionable for the postseason. While Boston held a 2-1 advantage over Chicago in their regular season meetings the Bulls dropped the Celtics in their last game, a March contest that Garnett missed.

Despite the questions surrounding the Celtics the numbers still favor Boston as they posted a 35-6 mark at home this year and have won nine straight at TD Banknorth Garden while the Bulls were 13-28 on the road, worst among any playoff team. Only three of their road wins came against teams that made the NBA playoffs.

Boston still has a version of the big three as Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo have carried the load in Garnett’s absence while they have been getting plenty of support from Glen Davis, Kendrick Perkins and Leon Powe.

Chicago has been led by Ben Gordon and Derrick Rose but will need serious efforts from Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas if they are to have any chance.

Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m. ET.
