NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Schedule: Cleveland Cavaliers Face Detroit Pistons in Game One on Saturday

The #1-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers (66-16) enter the NBA playoffs as a heavy favorite to advance to the championship series for the second time since 2007 but they’ll need to get past the #8-seeded Detroit Pistons (39-43) first as their best-of-seven series opens on Saturday.

LeBron James has put together an MVP-caliber season, averaging 28.4 ppg, 7.2 assists and 7.6 rebounds, leading the Cavaliers to the NBA’s best record and a 39-2 mark at home. While LeBron has been spectacular he has had plenty of support from Mo Williams, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Anderson Varejao and Delonte West and he’ll likely need it to get past the Pistons.

While Cleveland held a 3-1 advantage in the season series none of the games were complete blow outs and Detroit has a veteran club that is certainly capable of an upset. The Pistons will look to concentrate their defense on LeBron and make somebody else beat them. Detroit may be older but they still have plenty of offensive weapons that could make the series interesting. Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince and Rip Hamilton provide a solid core for the Pistons and while they may have played below expectations during the regular season the playoffs are when Detroit shines brightest.

Game one is set to tip off at 3:00 p.m. ET.
