NBA Playoffs Western Conference Schedule: Portland Trail Blazers Host Houston Rockets in Game One on Saturday

The #4-seeded Portland Trail Blazers (54-28) have put together a remarkable season and will be hosting the #5-seeded Houston Rockets (53-29) on Saturday in game one of their best-of-seven playoff series.

Portland is perhaps the hottest team heading into the postseason with six straight wins, three of those coming against the L.A. Lakers, San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets. While the Trail Blazers have been led by Brandon Roy they have plenty of pieces (LaMarcus Aldridge, Steve Blake, Rudy Fernandez, Joel Przybilla) that will make them a difficult opponent for the Rockets despite losing the season series 2-1. Portland put together the second best record at home in the Western Conference at 34-7 while Houston was 20-21 on the road.

Houston will rely on their experience to challenge the Trail Blazers and with Ron Artest and Shane Battier as two of the premier defenders in the Western Conference they might have an answer to Roy. Offensively the Rockets should be able to rely on Yao Ming to pick up the load as he has always thrived against Portland. While Houston has a well-documented history for falling in the first round the Trail Blazers youth could provide them with the opportunity to advance.

Game one is set to tip off at 10:30 p.m. ET.
