NBA Scores Eastern Conference: LeBron James Leads Cleveland Cavaliers to Opening Game Win Over Detroit Pistons

LeBron James scored 38 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 7 assists, Zydrunas Ilgauskas added 12 points and 10 boards and Delonte West finished with 12 points and 5 dimes as the Cleveland Cavaliers cruised past the Detroit Pistons 102-84 on Saturday to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference playoff series.

LeBron opened with 12 points in the first frame as the Cavaliers carried a 30-25 lead into the second. Detroit started the second hot, hitting their first five shots but Joe Smith was the answer for the Cavs as he scored nine points in the first 4:30 to keep Cleveland in front by five. Cleveland pushed their advantage up to 50-39 after LeBron sank one of two from the foul-line with 2:17 left in the half and that lead was pushed to 12 at the break when he hit a 41-footer just as the buzzer sounded.

Detroit managed to get within eight points in the opening minutes of the third quarter but Cleveland never allowed them to get any closer as LeBron added another eight points to his total and the Cavs led 78-65 heading into the fourth. Once again Detroit trimmed their deficit to eight but Cleveland used a 10-0 run later to put the Pistons in a 19-point hole with 5:11 left and they never recovered.

The Cavaliers shot 52 percent from the floor on Saturday and got to the foul-line 15 more times than the Pistons.
