NBA Playoffs Western Conference Schedule: Los Angeles Lakers Host Utah Jazz in Game One on Sunday

The NBA heads into the second day of action with the Western Conference’s #1-seed Los Angeles Lakers taking on the #8-seed Utah Jazz in what many feel is just the first step for the Lakers to claim the NBA championship.

Los Angeles is a heavy favorite to emerge from the Western Conference as Kobe Bryant is no longer the lone gun for the Lakers. With Pau Gasol carrying a large portion of the load, Trevor Ariza playing solid, the return of Andrew Bynum and arguably the best bench in the NBA the Lakers have put together a solid season that saw them post a 36-5 record at home. The Lakers held a 2-1 advantage in their season series with the Jazz.

For Utah the problem of playing on the road has plagued them all year as they posted a 15-26 record away from home. That hasn’t been their only problem though as they have gone from a great February in which they went 10-1 to a 10-5 March and in April they posted a dismal 2-6 mark. Utah will need more than just solid play from Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer; they’ll need physical play to unsettle the Lakers. It remains to be seen if center Mehmet Okur will be ready for the opener which will leave the Jazz struggling to match-up with Bynum.

Game one is set to tip off at 3:00 p.m. ET.
