What’s After the Tea?
AmericanSeniors.org congratulates everyone that took the time to participate in the over 700 Tea Parties across
The protest on April 15th weren’t entirely about current tax rates, they were more about the fabric of our democracy and the future taxes and programs destined to hinder the opportunities afforded our children and grandchildren. Every American has their own hopes and dreams for the future of their families. Those dreams don’t include a nanny state that impacts our daily lives with burdensome programs and limitations on our personal growth and health. As Thomas Jefferson once said, “A government big enough to give us everything we need is big enough to take everything we have”.
AmericanSeniors encourages all of it’s members, over 100,000 and growing, and anyone else who wants a more fiscally sound future for America, to continue this grass roots protest. The word TEA seemed to fit because it was a protest and taxes were involved; but it was so much more than that. In less than 100 days we have seen dramatic evidence that our country is being pushed left by the Obama administration and a congress led by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. This liberal legislative trio has not been faced with a strong response from the right. From tax policy, energy legislation to foreign policy and beyond, every single decision is another step to the left with meager opposition. The thrust of the protest was ignited by this lack of an opposition party willing to make a stand against most of what the President and his followers are implementing. Conservatives young and old are reminding our elected officials that there is a conservative base, and members of all political parties, that need to be represented. April 15th was the first “push back” to these liberal policies and agendas.
