Andre Iguodala scored 20 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 8 assists, Andre Miller added 15 points, 7 boards and 7 assists and Lou Williams finished with 18 points as the Philadelphia 76ers overcame an 18-point deficit and knocked off the Orlando Magic to take a 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven playoff series.
Philadelphia started the first quarter slow but managed to get things going as Thaddeus Young scored eight points in a two minute span and the 76ers moved in front 14-11. Andre Miller pushed the advantage to six but Dwight Howard kept the magic in the game as he paced Orlando with 12 points in the frame and the Magic trailed 27-25 heading into the second. The opening of the second was all Courtney Lee for the Magic as he scored 11 points in the opening 4:30 minutes and Orlando moved in front 36-35. Both teams traded the lead until the final two minutes when Howard put the Magic in front with a dunk and Orlando carried a 50-46 advantage into the break.
Orlando extended their lead to ten in the opening minutes of the third quarter but Philadelphia managed to stay close and climbed back to within six with 6:15 left. It was then that the Magic made their move as they used a 15-3 run to move in front 79-61 before the 76ers scored the final four points of the frame to trail 79-65 heading into the fourth. It looked like the Magic would cruise to the win as they kept the 14-point advantage over the first three minutes of the fourth but Philly refused to fold and used an 11-0 run to get within 84-81 with 6:26 left in the game. Hedo Turkoglu stopped the bleeding for Orlando with a jumper but the 76ers kept fighting and after Donyell Marshall buried a three-pointer and Andre Miller hit a layup the game was tied 91-91 with 3:53 left.
The Magic moved back in front by four after Howard hit a hook and Turkoglu hit a jumper and their lead was 98-95 after a Howard dunk with 49 seconds left but Marshall hit another big triple for Philly with 34 seconds left to tie the game at 9-98 with 34 seconds left. Orlando turned to Rashard Lewis but his 17-foot jumper missed and with two seconds left on the clock Iguodala buried an 18-footer in Turkoglu’s face for the game winner.
Philadelphia hit 51 percent from the floor and were 7-12 from beyond the three-point line to overcome a 31 point, 16 rebound effort from the Magic’s Dwight Howard.
