Gunman Who Hijacked Plane in Jamaica Surrenders

A gunman who hijacked a plane at Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport in the  resort town of Montego Bay has surrendered and all hostages have been freed unharmed.

 

According to reports the gunman forced his way aboard a CanJet plane bound for Canada and immediately demanded passage to Cuba.  Within half an hour the majority of the 174 passengers on board were released but the gunman kept six crew members and two passengers for several more hours.

 

The gunmen, described by Jamaican Information Minister Daryl Vaz as a “mentally challenged youngster,” robbed passengers but surrendered without harming anybody on the aircraft.
