Xavier Henry, the nation's top high school shooting guard, has cancelled a visit to Kentucky and is close to making a college decision, according to reports by JayhawkSlant.com.
Henry and his brother C.J. are near a decision on their college choice, according to Carl Henry, their father. "Xavier and C.J. have decided not to visit Kentucky," said Carl Henry. "They are not going to take the trip. I spoke to the both of them and they are done taking visits. Xavier and C.J. have told me they plan to announce a final decision in two days.
"I really have no idea where they are leaning," he added. "Those two, they changes their mind so much. If they didn't change their mind so much, I might have a better idea. What I do know is that no visit to Kentucky is going to happen. They plan to make let everybody know in two days."
A couple of months ago, Xavier signed a letter-of-intent to attend the University of Memphis, where his brother C.J. attended. However, when head coach John Calipari left the Tigers to be the new Kentucky Wildcats coach, the Henry brothers both asked and were granted releases from Memphis.
C.J. was a walk-on at Memphis after spending spending several years in the minor leagues with the Phillies and Yankees. In 2005, C.J., a two-sport star, verbally committed to the Kansas Jayhawks to play basketball, but was selected in the first round of the 2005 MLB Draft. After three years, he decided to play basketball again.
Xavier, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound guard from Putnam City H.S. in Oklahoma City, OK, is currently ranked No. 1 by ESPN and No. 8 by Rivals.com.
Calipari received better news last week when DeMarcus Cousins followed him from Memphis to Kentucky. Cousins, the 6-foot-10 senior from LeFlore HS in Mobile, AL, is the nation's top power forward and played with Henry in the 2009 McDonald's All-American Game.
