A Sunni mosque in Khyber Agency, a tribal region of Pakistan, was rocked by a deadly explosion Friday. Government officials say about 300 people were at the mosque in Ghundi village for Friday prayers when a suicide bomber entered and detonated his explosives. At least 34 people were killed and about 100 others were wounded.
Witnesses told local authorities the suicide bomber was a young man. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. The Taliban often targets mosques attended by soldiers and anti-Taliban militias.
Mutahir Zaib, a senior official in Khyber, said authorities are investigating the attack. No other details were available.
