NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Schedule: Atlanta Hawks Looking to Put Miami Heat in 2-0 Series Hole

The Atlanta Hawks have been one of the few teams in the NBA to find a way to contain Dwyane Wade and last Sunday they did it again as they drubbed the Miami Heat 90-64 in the first game of their best-of-seven series. On Wednesday they’ll look to continue the trend as they host the Heat in Game 2 and if Miami doesn’t find an answer to the Hawks defense then their season could be in serious jeopardy.

Atlanta was dominant in Game 1 as their defense held the Heat to their lowest point total of the season and after Wade scored 17 points in the first half he was held to just 2 points the rest of the way. Wade wasn’t the only one shut down by the Hawks as Michael Beasley finished with just 10 points on 5-15 shooting and Mario Chalmers had 8 points on 3-10 shooting. As a team the Heat hit a dismal 36 percent from the floor.

Offensively the Hawks picked apart the Heat defense with balanced scoring as six players finished in double figures with Josh Smith leading the way with 23 points. Atlanta controlled the glass as well as they held a 50-35 advantage on the boards, including 14 offensive rebounds compared to 5 for the Heat.

Miami will have to do everything they can to erase from their memory Sunday night and while the pressure will be on Wade to produce if he doesn’t have a supporting cast the results could look very similar to Game 1.

Tip-off for Game 2 is set for 8:00 p.m. E.T.
