NBA Scores Eastern Conference Playoffs: Orlando Magic Even Series with Philadelphia 76ers

Courtney Lee scored 24 points, Dwight Howard added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Rashard Lewis finished with 16 points, 8 boards and 6 assists as the Orlando Magic knocked off the Philadelphia 76ers 96-87 on Wednesday to even their best-of-seven Eastern Conference playoff series 1-1.

Philadelphia came out looking determined to head back home with a two game advantage as they built a 17-10 lead midway through the opening frame but Orlando settled down and a 9-0 run gave them their first lead of the night. That two point advantage held until the final seconds of the quarter when Thaddeus Young hit a layup to even the score at 21-21 heading into the second. The game remained tight for much of the second but with 2:47 left in the half the Magic went on a 7-0 spurt to build a 44-35 cushion and by the break they led 46-39.

That seven point advantage was inflated to 18 after a Howard bucket with 6:37 left in the third quarter but a four minute scoreless stretch for Orlando opened the door for Philly and they climbed back to within 66-61 before the Magic got a big three-pointer from Hedo Turkoglu and led at the end of the quarter 70-62. Philadelphia again cut into the Orlando lead and were within five but a Courtney Lee jumper and a pair of free-throws from Turkoglu gave the Magic some breathing room. With just under three minutes left in the game Andre Miller pulled the Sixers back to within 84-79 with a long three-pointer but the Magic got a runner from Anthony Johnson and a jumper from Rashard Lewis to put Philly away.

While both teams shot about even from the floor with Philly hitting 46 percent and Orlando at 43 percent the Magic managed to get to the line 30 times, sinking 22 free-throws while the Sixers were 12-18 from the stripe.
