NBA Scores Eastern Conference Playoffs: Miami Heat Rebound from Dismal Game One to Even Series with Atlanta Hawks

Dwyane Wade scored 33 points and dished out 7 assists, Daequan Cook added 20 points on 6-9 shooting from beyond the three-point line and Jermaine O'Neal finished with 19 points and 6 rebounds as the Miami Heat bounced back from an ugly Game1 loss and dropped the Atlanta Hawks 108-93 on Wednesday to even their best-of-seven playoff series at a game apiece.

While Wade felt the pressure of having to do everything in game one it was apparent from the start that the Heat would work everybody into the offense on Wednesday as seven different players scored in the opening frame with Wade leading the way with 8 points as Miami led 24-18 at the end of one. Wade shared the stage with Daequan Cook in the second quarter as Cook hit three three-pointers and finished with 11 points while Wade added another 13 points with three triples of his own to give Miami a 54-41 lead at the break.

The Heat extended their lead to 17 in the third quarter but Atlanta used a 7-0 spurt to pull within 67-57 but Miami wouldn’t let them get any closer and carried an 83-72 lead into the fourth. The Hawks had plenty of opportunities to make a run at the Heat and got as close as 94-89 after Flip Murray completed a three-point play with 4:54 on the clock but they missed a number of open shots and free throws and couldn’t come up with the big stop defensively. Wade all but iced the game with 2:38 on the clock when he banked home a three-pointer as the shot clock was expiring to give the Heat a101-91 lead and Atlanta had no answer.

Miami certainly found their perimeter game on Wednesday as they hit 15-26 from beyond the three-point line and finished the night 55 percent from the floor. The Heat also benefited from an atrocious night at the foul-line for the Hawks as Atlanta hit just 19-3 from the stripe.
