He adds, “In fact, combining your current fitness routine with a set of healthy eating guidelines can go a long way in improving your health”.

Here are three basic healthy eating guidelines to improve your health and lifestyle:

1) Load up on fruits and vegetables – Aim to eat about 4-5 helpings of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. Both are an excellent source of vitamins, minerals and fiber, thereby providing the body with its daily dose of nutrients.

2) Water, water everywhere – Increase you water intake. Try to drink about 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Keeping your body well hydrated throughout the day can improve your overall energy levels. Drinking adequate water is one of the most important healthy eating guidelines.

3)  Snack less, eat more frequently – Another important healthy eating guideline is to eat more frequently and cut down on snacks. By cutting down the time in between meals, you are ensuring that you snack less and in the process avoid eating any junk food. Eat about 5-6 meals during the day every 3 hours or so.
