Suicide Bombings in Iraq Kill More than 70

Two separate suicide bombings in Iraq have combined to kill at least 76 people and left more than 70 injured.

 

At least 28 people were killed in Baghdad when a suicide bomber detonated a belt of explosives while police were passing out aid to a crowd of homeless families near the city’s center. According to police the man had disguised himself as one of those displaced and worked his way near the authorities before triggering the explosive.

 

The second attack was carried out in Baquba in the Diyala province as a roadside restaurant was the target of another suicide bomber. In that blast at least 48 people were killed, many of the casualties were said to be Iranian pilgrims
