Italian
police said they have found the German couple who disappeared from a pizzeria in
northern Italy on Sunday, leaving behind three small children.
It
is believed that Ina Caterina Remhof, 26, and her boyfriend Sascha Schmidt, 24,
intentionally left the three children at the restaurant and they could now face
charges for abandoning a vulnerable person. Schmidt was already wanted in
Germany for violating his parole.
The
couple stepped out of the pizzeria to have a cigarette but after about ten
minutes workers inside the restaurant realized the two had vanished. Police
launched an immediate search for the couple but after finding their abandoned car
and a diary detailing the financial troubles they were facing there was fear
that the two may have been dead.
Instead,
a patrol walking along a path in a wooded area near the town of Aosta found the
couple who were said to be in good condition, Police are now interviewing the two
All
three children, ages four, two and eight-months will be returned to Germany and
placed in their grandmother’s care
