After splitting their two games in San Antonio the Dallas Mavericks will be determined to put the Spurs in a 2-1 hole on Thursday as the two teams meet in Game 3 at American Airlines Arena.
The Mavericks were a solid 32-9 at home during the regular season and split their meetings with the Spurs on their court. Dallas looked impressive in their Game 1 victory as they hit 53 percent from the floor and overcame a 13-point deficit to win 105-97 behind big games from Josh Howard and Dirk Nowitzki. That all went away in Game 2 as the Spurs bounced back and embarrassed the Mavericks 105-84 behind a 38 point effort from Tony Parker.
Dallas will have to figure out a way to neutralize Parker on Thursday while still clamping down on Tim Duncan. San Antonio still has perimeter threats despite the absence of Manu Ginobili but the Mavericks have offensive firepower as well and it may come down to what role player steps up and shines brightest. San Antonio has Matt Bonner and Michael Finley who are both capable of pouring in points while the Mavs could find a spark from Jason Terry and Jose Juan Barea to get a big win.
Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET.
