Studies Show Accelerated Learning Method Works

Quantum Learning methods proven to increase student and teacher success in school

During a recent pilot program for Quantum Learning accelerated learning methods developed by Bobbi DePorter, 2,047 students and over 500 faculty and teachers from Thornton Township High School in South Holland, Illinois, were studied to see how student test scores would vary before and after attending a Quantum Learning program.

600 students were involved in the Quantum Learning pilot program, with post-intervention data indicating increases in student learning, attendance, and an overall improved attitude toward school. Students also showed an increase in math and reading skills, both on standardized tests and class grades. Post-intervention data also shows that teachers improved in their teaching skills and overall effectiveness and satisfaction after attending a Quantum Learning
teacher training program.

As shown in the data, ninth grade “low-level” students in Math and English increased their mathematical problem solving abilities to a solid 9th grade level. Students had nearly three fewer periods absent, which is a significant gain in this highly transient population. According to the Normal Curve Equivalent (NCE), students within the program accelerated their learning and skills equivalent to 21 instructional months’ growth (more than two school years) in only 22 days.

Within the English 1 courses, 13 percent more students who took part in the pilot program would have passed with a D grade rather than failed. Even though the study group began the program significantly behind their counterparts, their performance was nearly equal after 22 days. In Speech 1, the pilot program’s students actually did better than the base group; as three percent more “regular” students failed Speech 1 than did the program’s group. The program’s students virtually equaled the regular students on their A,B,C and D grade distributions for Speech 1.

Research results also show that after using Quantum Learning methods, students report a 68 percent better attendance record, 66 percent better behavior, 60 percent follow class rules mores often, and 68 percent report that they enjoy learning more in a Quantum Learning class environment.

Headquartered in Oceanside, California, Quantum Learning Network (QLN) is also home of SuperCamp, a 10-day summer enrichment program for students age 11-18 that teaches academic, life, and leadership skills to help increase their grades, confidence and motivation and to prepare them for their journey into and through college. Since SuperCamp’s founding in 1982, the academic summer program has graduated over 50,000 students from all 50 states and over 32 countries worldwide. Today, SuperCamp is hosted domestically on seven college campuses including Stanford University, Cornell University, and Wake Forest University. Internationally, SuperCamp holds summer programs throughout Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean.
