A jet operated by the Canadian carrier First Air crashed Sunday just 5 miles from the airport where it was supposed to land. Authorities say only three of the fifteen people on board survived. The dead included all four crew members.
Flight 6560 was en route to Resolute Bay from Yellowknife when it went down around 12:40 p.m., according to airport officials. First Air Vice President Chris Ferris said the cause of the crash remains unclear and is under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board. The flight recorders were recovered from the crash site.
