A
pair of U.S. journalists arrested by North Korea last month are due to face
trial for charges that have yet to be revealed.
According
to North Korea the two women, Euna Lee and Laura Ling, were detained shortly
after they illegally crossed the border from China. Both women had been working
for Current TV when they were detained on March 17 by North Korean officials.
While
the charges have yet to be announced state media reports have indicated the
women will be charged with “hostile acts” as well as illegal entry into the country.
There
have been reports that Lee and Ling had actually been in China when North
Korean guards arrested them but that has been discounted by the North.
It
is believed that the two could each be facing five years in prison if they are
convicted on espionage charges.
