NBA Playoffs Western Conference Schedule: Houston Rockets Return Home, Look to Take Series Lead Against Portland Trail Blazers
The Houston Rockets managed to split their two games with the Portland Trail Blazers up in the Pacific Northwest and now return to their home court looking to grab a 2-1 lead on Friday as the two teams face off in a Game 3 battle.
Houston dominated Game 1 with a stellar performance from Yao Ming and Aaron Brooks as they grabbed a 108-81 win but Game 2 was a different story as the Trail Blazers bounced back and a 42-point effort from Brandon Roy gave Portland a 107-103 victory to even the series.
As they did in Game 2 the Trail Blazers will have to limit the effectiveness of Yao if they are to steal Game 3 but that’s no easy task as the Rockets posted a 33-8 mark on their court while Portland was 20-21 on the road, two of those losses were in Houston. Portland will not only need to stop Yao but have another big game from LaMarcus Aldridge and truly establish a perimeter game.
The Rockets will continue to run their offense through the capable hands of Brooks who has displayed an ability to not only find the open man but hit the open shot as well. Houston will concentrate their defensive efforts on limiting Brandon Roy and if they do that they should take the series lead.
Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m. ET.
