To google - A Verb Meaning To Search?

You will need to upgrade your browsers to see this, but a new website www.to.google has recently appeared on the Internet and unbelievably it does NOT belong to Google Inc. (Viewing and Upgrade instructions shown at the bottom of this press release)

It seems that more and more people are defining the term “to google” as a verb meaning “to look for something” rather than just the popular search engine. This change has led to startling developments in the war of words and dictionaries, more recently, with the launch of www.to.google.

Simply put, www.to.google is a website that lists Search Engines (under a number of headings and in no particular order). Visitors to this website may not be inspired by its size, but nevertheless www.to.google is making waves.

The new address is made possible by the release of brand new domain names available though dotWORLDS registrars www.dotworlds.net that allows users greater flexibility than ever before. For example if you want to be seen as more successful, you could try registering www.extremely.rich. Want to be more attractive, try securing www.good.looking. Looking to become more famous, then perhaps www.pop.star is still available. But enough of the hypothetical: today, if you want a list of search engines, you can already visit www.to.google.

So, have their been any complaints about the website www.to.google. Says dotWORLDS “At this time nobody has contacted us with any issues - and that includes Google Inc themselves. In fact, we are currently in touch with Google Inc on a different matter requesting further removals of anonymous and libellous content from Google Inc's website, therefore we think if there was a problem they would have already told us. In fact, we have been talking to Google Inc about libellous content for some time but they are very slow in responding to our complaints. Despite estimations that they have now withdrawn over 1500 libellous links, it has only been the threat of legal action that forced them into action. However, in the matter of www.to.google they have not complained about anything.

Understandably Google Inc have a lot on their plate with their ever increasing drive to list anything and everything on the planet. At last count there seemed to be about 8.9 billion pages and growing. Hmmm, that’s quite a lot I hear you say - but if you take into account that over 2 billion pages are just about Google Inc (that could be as high as 25% of total content) plus if there’s a much libel and nonsense for other individuals and companies as dotWORLDS has had to encounter, then how much of Google Inc’s “information” is just padding.

Says dotWORLDS, “like many people, we still use Google Inc as one of the search engines to locate information, but perhaps it would help if they were to delete half their content (maybe 4-5 billion pages). Nobody would notice and people would get much more concise results.”
