NYC High School Students Infected with Swine Flu

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has confirmed that students at St. Francis Preparatory School in NYC are infected with swine flu.

Bloomberg says that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has determined eight students are sick with swine flu, a new strain of influenza that mutated from pigs and transferred to humans. Bloomberg says the cases were mild and the students are recovering.

More tests on the other students are being done to determine if anyone else was infected.

Mexico was the first to report an outbreak of the new virus, which has claimed at least 100 lives already. Canada, Europe and Spain have confirmed several cases. Officials are warning against unnecessary travel to affected areas. Read more on the swine flu
