A's Defeat Yankess on Homerun in Tenth

Oakland A's outfielder Coco Crisp put on an impressive performance at the plate in Yankee Stadium to knock the Yankees out of first place with a 6-4 loss. Crisp hit two home runs with five RBI in a four for four performance. The Red Sox took the AL East's top spot by defeating the Texas Rangers 13-2.

Scott Sizemore, batting ninth for the A's, also went four for four at the plate and brought in the tying run in the eighth inning with a double off of CC Sabathia. For the Yankees Nick Swisher hit two home runs and Mark Teixeira added another but it was Crisp's three run blast that put the game out of reach. Swisher homered in the bottom of the tenth after nearly hitting a game-winning grand slam the night before.

Sabathia gave up one of Crisp's home runs in the first inning before throwing shut out baseball until the eighth. The Yankees, without Alex Rodriguez, helped him defensively with diving plays from Derek Jeter and perfect relay throws.

With the win the A's clinched a series victory over the Yankees for the first time since 2007.
