Doctors at an Orlando hospital may have found the first
case of swine flu in Florida. The vice president of Florida Hospital, Dr. Scott
Brady, said testing is still needed to confirm the case as the swine flu.
State Health Department spokesperson Susan Smith echoed
Brady’s statement on testing saying, “Confirmation of positive tests of swine
flu will come from Department of Health labs and the Centers of Disease
Control,” Smith said in a statement.
The person believed to be infected with the new strain of
virus is a tourist from Mexico who visited Disney attractions over the weekend.
An outbreak of swine flu has killed at least 150 people
in Mexico. Mexican officials have shut down schools and warned residents to
stay away from crowded areas to try to control the spreading of swine flu.
Eight cases were confirmed in New York City Monday while
others have been confirmed in Canada, Spain, Israel and New Zealand. Read more
