NBA Western Conference Playoffs Schedule: San Antonio Spurs Face Must-Win Situation as Dallas Mavericks Look to Advance

The San Antonio Spurs head into Tuesday night’s matchup with the Dallas Mavericks in a must-win situation as they trail 3-1 in their Western Conference best-of-seven playoff series. If the last two games are any indication as to how the Spurs will play then their season could easily come to an end by the end of the evening as the Mavericks have exploited what appears to be an aging club.

Dallas opened the series with a surprising 105-97 win in San Antonio but the Spurs rebounded and blasted the Mavericks 105-84 in Game 2 leaving many to suspect the series could be tight. Unfortunately for the Spurs the Mavericks returned the 21-point beating they took in Game 2 and took a 2-1 series advantage in Game 3. Dallas then took control of the series with a hard fought win in Game 4 and sit just a win away from meeting the winner of the Denver/New Orleans series.

The Spurs lone bright spot has been Tony Parker who led San Antonio to their only win and had a 43-point effort in their Game 4 loss. Tim Duncan has had a few strong games but the rest of the Spurs have been MIA and if they don’t get some help from Michael Finley or Bruce Bowen they could be in serious trouble.

Dallas has had consistent play from Josh Howard and Dirk Nowitzki while the presence of Erick Dampier has made an impact. The Mavericks are also seeing the value of Jason Kidd in the playoffs as the veteran has done a solid job leading the offense and Jason Terry has proven his value off the bench.

Tip-off is set for 9:30 p.m.
