Arlington Police Officer Wins Massage Envy’s Most-Stressed Award

An Arlington TX police officer who founded a charity golf tournament to help the families of deceased officers has been honored with an award recognizing his police work and volunteer service.

Officer Blake Miller is the first recipient of the Most-Stressed Award from Massage Envy. He will receive free massages for an entire year at any of the 25 Dallas/Fort Worth Massage Envy clinics.

“We salute Officer Miller for his commitment and courage in the line of duty,” said Lance O'Pry, Dallas/Fort Worth regional developer for Massage Envy clinics, the leading provider of massage therapy in the U.S. “He has gone uncounted extra miles for his fellow officers and his community. We are deeply honored to recognize this dedicated public servant.”

Officer Miller founded the Craig Hanking Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit deceased officers’ families. As a volunteer, he built a playground in a poor Arlington neighborhood.

Officer Miller is a 21-year veteran of the police department. He was nominated by his wife, Cindy, who wrote, “My policeman husband is an American hero… He is up for two days at a time with shootings and other crime… As the Arlington police spokesperson, he is on call 24 hours a day. He is overwhelmed.” [Ms. Miller’s full nomination submission is below.]

Ms. Miller’s first husband, Craig Hanking, also an Arlington police officer, died in 1994 in the line of duty. Officer Miller was his training officer, and was the one to inform Cindy of his death. “He named our son ‘Craig’ after my first husband,” Ms. Miller said.

Larry Stout, Massage Envy owner presented Ms. Miller with a one year Massage Envy certificate as well. “Cindy deserves a break as much as Blake. Cindy has gone above and beyond and we wanted to show her that she is appreciated,” commented Stout.

The Miller’s received their first massage on Tuesday, April 21 at the Massage Envy Southlake West location (250 Randol Mill, Suite 100 Southlake, TX 76092).

A great MASSAGE that fits your busy SCHEDULE and BUDGET

Cindy Miller nominated her Arlington police officer husband, Blake Miller for DFW Massage Envy’s MOST STRESSED CONTEST. Here is what she said…

If my husband could get a night of rest

A massage from Massage Envy would be the best.

Away from the four year s of pagers, crime and wakeup calls.

Working traffic and gang fights at the mall.

My policeman husband is an American hero.

He chases criminals and makes the traffic flow.

He saves people in tornadoes and fires.

He seems to never tire.

Creating a charity for police widows, he is so good.

Building a playground for the poor, he is like Robin Hood.

My husband is up for two days at a time with shootings and crime.

As the Arlington police spokesperson, he is on call 24 hours a day and never gets to rest for a long time.

This week, we found out his mother has ALS and has two years to live.

He is overwhelmed knowing the hardships his mother will suffer as she loses muscle control. We will be traveling six hours to visit them and give her all the time we can give.

As a dad he always shows love. That is the key.

He always says he loves us. Because in his job, with his life, there are no guarantees.

I first met my husband in the middle of the night.

Telling me that my first husband had died, I thought things would never be right.

As his training officer, he wished he had been the one to die.

After a year of police ceremonies, it was still so hard to say goodbye.

Through everything, I grew to love his personality, sense of humor and smile.

Creating a charity memorial golf tournament, he always goes the extra mile.

He named our son Craig, after the man that brought us together through love and grief.

To finally have our cute baby was such a relief.

Blake is my Prince Charming, giving me a second chance at life and love.

My life is so full and fun with my perfect mate, I have been twice blessed from up above.
