Indiana has confirmed they have their first case of swine
flu. The state health department said a young adult is sick with the new strain
of virus but said the person is not seriously ill.
Earlier today, doctors at an Orlando, Florida hospital
said they may have their first case. Testing is needed to confirm the tourist
from Mexico, who visited Disney attraction over the weekend, is suffering from swine flu.
The deadly new virus originated in Mexico. It has already
killed at least 150 people there and sickened more than 1,600 others. The outbreak
has spread around the world with the United States reporting their first
confirmed cases this week. Spain, New Zealand, Israel and Canada have also
confirmed cases.
According to the World Health Organization, steps are
being taken to develop a vaccine for swine flu, which mutated from pigs and
transmitted to humans. Vaccines may not be available for another five to six
months, WHO says. Read more
