North Korea Threatens Nuclear Missile Tests, Demands UN Apology

North Korea, still angered by the United Nations condemnation of a recent rocket launch, has threatened to carry out nuclear missile tests unless an apology is issued.

While North Korea insisted that their April 5 rocket launch placed a communications satellite in orbit the general feeling in the international community was that the launch was actually a missile test. Shortly after the launch the UN urged tighter sanctions be imposed on North Korea yet Pyongyang said they would ignore those sanctions.

The North has said the sanctions were a “wanton violation of the UN charter” and have now threatened “nuclear and intercontinental ballistic missile tests” as a self-defense measure if an apology isn’t made.

North Korea has already removed itself from international negotiations that concentrated on their nuclear program and has forced all UN monitors from the country.
