Singer and songwriter Vern Gosdin has died. Gosdin, who
hit country music success in the 80s, died late Tuesday in a Nashville
hospital. He reportedly suffered a stroke several weeks ago. Gosdin, also known as the Voice, was 74.
Gosdin began his music career in the ‘60s as a member of
the Golden State Boys, which evolved into the Hillmen. After the Hillmen split,
Gosdin and his brother Rex formed the band the Gosdin Brothers.
After producing one country hit with his brother, Gosdin
launched a solo career in the 70s. He hit the country charts with ‘Yesterday’s
Gone’ and went on to chart other top 10 singles.
His exact cause of death was not revealed.
