Artie Kornfeld, The Father of Woodstock 69 Joins West Fest

Woodstock co-creator, producer, and rock music legend Artie Kornfeld joins 2b1 Multimedia Inc and Circle Of Light for West Fest 2009 in San Francisco for 40 year anniversary.

Co-creator and Father of Woodstock, Artie Kornfeld has announced his participation in West Fest on October 25 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The concert is organized by 2b1 Multimedia (Boots Hughston) and the Council of Light in association with Artie Kornfeld, who happens to be the original producer of the Woodstock '69 music festival. West Fest promises to be the largest confirmed Woodstock 40th anniversary event, with an estimated attendance of 100,000-plus.

Kornfeld’s participation in West Fest marks his first official participation in a Woodstock related anniversary since the original, and is huge news for the Woodstock Nation. The free concert will feature hundreds of San Francisco area musicians and speakers with the aim of educating the public on the original principals behind Woodstock 1969.  West Fest will play host to speakers in the areas of peace, love, spirituality, anti-war, and green topics. Many leaders within these movements are set to make an appearance alongside original Woodstock performers (to be announced).

Other cool West Fest events will include beat poets, a Green Vendor Village to highlight the Green Movement, and a Jimi Hendrix tribute that would make the rock legend smile. The Jimi triburewill include 3,000 guitarists playing “Purple Haze”, which would break a world record for the largest guitar ensemble in history.

Artie Kornfeld hosts the Spirit of Woodstock Nation radio program on the ArtistFirst Radio Network every Tuesday night at 10pm EST, and is promoting the event on the air to his million-plus listeners every week. The program tackles topics such as politics, history, the music industry, and the spirit of the original Woodstock. Guests have included Woodstock co-creator Michael Lang, Santana drummer Michael Shrieve, Rock Scully, Dave Getz, and Artie’s son Shon, who is also a recording artist. The show is free to download.

In related news, another Woodstock 40th anniversary concert simply called “A Woodstock Tribute” will take place on August 14 & 15 at Galt Airport in McHenry County, IL near Chicago. The concert will feature 8 tribute bands playing the works of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, CCR, The Grateful Dead, Santana, Joe Cocker, and Crosboy, Stills, Nash, and Young. It will conclude the two-week Woodstock Mozart Festival (August 1-15).
