Scientology Founder Garners Third Guinness World Record

L. Ron Hubbard honored with "most audio books for one author"

With 185 audio books, L. Ron Hubbard has just garnered his 3rd world record as confirmed by Guinness World Records, and announced at the London Book Fair. The official statement reads, “Most audio books for one author is L. Ron Hubbard with 185 published audio books as of 21st April 2009.”  It was just last month at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida that Bridge Publications released seven of Mr. Hubbard’s religious works in an additional 50 languages, surpassing the number of translations that led to one of his two other Guinness World Book records of most translated author.  This means that Mr. Hubbard’s materials on the subjects of Dianetics and Scientology can now be understood by 90% of the world’s population, where previously they could only reach 22%.  He also received a Guinness record for most published author.

“We have had excellent success with our new line of audiobooks,” said Gunhild Jacobs, the Executive Director for Trade Operations at Author Services, Inc., the literary agency that handles Hubbard’s combined works. “These audiobooks have already been recognized by Publishers Weekly, AudioFile Magazine, School Library Journal and Booklist for their superb quality. Plus, two of our audiobooks are up for Audio Awards. We feel that we are contributing to a reading renaissance with these stories.”

She also pointed out that the New York Times bestselling novelized version of Hubbard’s screen play Al Pedrito!” written by Kevin J. Anderson, held the record from Guinness as the largest book signing in history, until the New York Times bestselling version of Hubbard’s A Very Strange Trip, novelized by Dave Wolverton, beat this record a year later.

In a recent published review of the just released Orders is Orders audiobook, Publishers Weekly stated, “Demonstrating his unique ability to relate even the most complicated story with a keen eye for detail and realism, Hubbard’s stunning writing ability and creative imagination set him apart as one of the greatest literary figures of the 20th century.”

To help listeners understand how these audiobooks were created and listening quality achieved, a special video presentation entitled, The Making of a Golden Age Audiobook, has been created and can be seen at http://www.goldenagestories.com/html/podcasts.php - 6.
