Elizabeth Edwards on Husband’s Affair with Rielle Hunter: I Threw Up

In a new memoir due out May 12, Elizabeth Edwards discusses his husband’s affair and how she reacted when he told her.

The 48-year-old revealed husband John Edwards admitted his infidelity with videographer Rielle Hunter days before declaring his campaign for president in 2006. When he admitted the affair, Edwards say she threw up in a bathroom. “I cried and screamed, I went to the bathroom and threw up,” she writes in the memoir, titled ‘Resilience.’

Edwards says she wanted his to drop out of the race to protect their family from media scrutiny, but he refused and she stood by him. After the National Enquirer reported the affair, John went public with his admission of guilt. He denied being the father of Hunter’s daughter.

While Edwards never mentions Hunter by name in the book, she does describe her as “pathetic.”
