Quantum Learning Network Receives Academic Grant

The Thomas C. Ackerman Foundation generously provides scholarship for academic summer camp and professional development program

Quantum Learning Network, an education company specializing in advanced learning skills, has announced that it is the proud recipient of a grant given by the Thomas C. Ackerman Foundation that will allow for one SuperCamp scholarship, one Quantum Learning for Teachers 5-day Training scholarship, and one set of support materials for the winning classroom. In addition, Quantum Learning Network is matching the total amount of the grant.

The winning teacher and student of the grant will receive ongoing support through emails and videos that reinforce the skills they will learn through SuperCamp and Quantum Learning. The teacher will also receive support materials for his/her classroom. A Quantum Learning trainer will then spend a day in the fall, teaching learning and life skills to the entire class, and give additional training and coaching to the teacher, plus other teachers at the school.

The Quantum Learning
professional development program for educators provides a proven research-based approach to teaching. This comprehensive method includes strategies for the creation of effective learning environments and the design and delivery of curriculum that makes content meaningful and relevant for students – resulting in engaged, joyful, and successful learning.

SuperCamp is a highly engaging and unique 10-day residential summer camp experience that encourages students to achieve higher goals in school and life. The learning how to learn concepts teacher reading, writing, speaking, thinking, memory, and note taking skills, as well as relationship building and communication skills. SuperCamp uses Quantum Learning methods that increase grades and confidence in its graduates.

The number of individuals immediately impacted by this grant will be approximately 30 students and one teacher, the number in a typical classroom. However, the selected teacher will continue to impact the lives of new students each year over the course of his/her career and will share Quantum Learning teaching strategies with other teachers.

With the winning school, teacher, and classroom selected in June 2009, the grant will be operative through May 2010.
