NBA Playoffs Eastern Conference Schedule: Atlanta Hawks Look to Wrap Up Series as Miami Heat Face Must Win

In a series that has had distinct shifts in momentum the Atlanta Hawks have an opportunity to finish things off as they take on the Miami Heat on Friday night in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference playoff series.

While Atlanta is just one win away from advancing to the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs and facing the Cleveland Cavaliers that victory won’t come easy as they will take on the Heat without Al Horford and Marvin Williams, both still nursing injuries. The Hawks will get no sympathy from the Heat as their superstar, Dwyane Wade, has had a host of ailments that have left him banged up and bruised.

Despite the injuries on both teams the series has proven to be unpredictable as Atlanta opened with convincing Game 1 victory only to be outplayed in Game 2. Miami then took the series lead with a Game 3 thumping on their own court but they then gave the series advantage back to the Hawks in Game 4 with a brutal performance. Atlanta took advantage of their home court and earned a blowout win in Game 5 but left plenty of bad blood on the floor and could be in for a serious fight on Friday.

Many in the Heat locker room took exception to Josh Smith’s dunk attempt late in Game 5, saying it was an attempt to embarrass Miami. That could lead to some physical play on Friday and the series has already provided plenty of hard fouls.

It is clear that Wade will need help on Friday and if he doesn’t get the support from Daequan Cook, Michael Beasley and Jermaine O’Neal the Heat could see their season end. Miami has relied on the three-pointer all series and when they are hitting Atlanta has folded but when they struggle from the perimeter the Hawks have had no problems building big leads.

Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. ET.
